What is the language of instruction in classes?
The Taman Rama School Bali offers educational programmes in both Bahasa Indonesia and English language. The Kindergarten is bilingual, but after that the school offers an Indonesian National Curriculum program or a Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) programme in the primary and secondary levels. English language is studied in both programmes but it is also the language of instruction in the CIE programmes.
What are the schools hours?
The Taman Rama School Bali operates from 7.30am and finishes at 2.30pm from Monday through to Friday. The class times for kindergarten and the junior primary grades do vary from this;
Toddler : Age 2 – 3 years : time 09.00 – 11.00am
Nursery : Age 3 – 4 years : time 08.00 – 11.00am
Kindergarten : Age 4 – 5 years : time 08.00 – 11.00am
Preparatory : Age 5 – 6 years : time 08.00 – 12.00pm
Primary 1 & 2 : Age 6 – 8 years : time 7.30 – 1.30pm
Primary 3 – 6 : Age 9 – 12 years : time 7.30 – 2.15pm
The high school sections of the school (years 7 – 12) all start at 7.30am and finish at 2.15pm.
What extra-curricula activities does the school have?
The Taman Rama Bali School is a member of the Bali School
Sports Association (BSSA) and fields basketball and soccer
teams in this as well as local interschool contests.
The school also has Balinese Dance, First Aid (Doktor Kecil), Badminton, Basketball, volleyball and Scouts (Pramuka).
How is Gandhi’s philosophy incorporated into the school?
The Taman Rama School observes a philosophy and policy of non-violence and respect for all people, cultures and religions. The school has a guidance counsellor and specific religious instruction teachers for each of the 5 main religions. The school recognises and celebrates all of the major days of religious and cultural significance. The school has special programs on Gandhi’s Birthday and on Kartini Day to celebrate the human spirit and the greatness that we are all capable of.
What is a National Plus School?
A National Plus School is a private school that offers extended programs beyond that which is stipulated in the Indonesian National Curriculum. The Indonesian National Curriculum is also delivered but it is augmented or run in parallel to other programmes. The Taman Rama School Bali offers the Indonesian National Curriculum (SD, SMP, SMA) and also offers parallel Cambridge International Examination programmes (CIPP, CLSP, IGCSE, A’Level).
What is CIE?
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14–19 year olds. CIE is a part of the University of Cambridge and a not-for-profit organisation. CIE is part of Cambridge Assessment, Europe’s largest assessment agency and a department of the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Assessment was established in 1858 as the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), and it will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2008.
For nearly 150 years CIE has worked in partnership with ministries of education, qualifications authorities and examination and assessment boards around the world. In some countries such as Singapore Cambridge examinations are the state qualification for students in secondary school. Tens of thousands of students take Cambridge Examinations every year.
