Cambridge Primary comes from the University of Cambridge’s Cambridge International Examinations programme (CIE). It is a curriculum framework designed to develop English, Mathematics and Science skills, knowledge and understanding in young learners and provide a solid foundation for secondary education.
The Taman Rama School Bali was the first school in Indonesia to establish a Cambridge international primary programme. Our programme provides learning objectives for each year of your child’s primary education. Its step-by-step programme takes learners from the start of primary education to completion, and gives excellent preparation for Cambridge Secondary.
Cambridge Primary helps the school; teachers and parents gain a greater understanding of their children’s abilities. This in turn leads to more effective teaching and learning.
Progression tests enable us to assess students each year against external international benchmarks. These tests provide information to analyse students’ achievements, strengths and weaknesses, and give teachers invaluable information to help guide learners in the following year.
In the final year of primary education, students can take the Cambridge Checkpoint examinations, in Mathematics, English and Science. These externally marked international examinations provide a worldwide benchmark standard.
Cambridge Primary at Taman Rama School is developed around the three core syllabuses supplied by CIE (English, Math and Science). Our focus is to development solid foundations in literacy and numeracy, and to establish the knowledge, skills, attitudes and habits that equip students to confidently tackle the challenges of further education. In addition to these subjects students also study Art, Music, Dance, Information technology, Studies of Societies and Environments (History / Geography), Indonesian language, Religion, Physical Education and Foreign languages (French, Mandarin, Japanese or Balinese).
All of the core academic subjects (English, Mathematics, Science and History / Geography) are taught in English. The remaining specialist subjects are usually taught in Indonesian.
We use a class based teaching system where two teachers handle the core subjects for each grade level. This ensures greater consistency and stability for the students and enables us to match teaching duties according to each teacher’s particular subject strengths. Our teaching staff is a balance of qualified international and local teachers.
